What is stress?

Stress is a reaction of the environmental conditions that use to withdraw the liveliness and longevity from our body mind setup because our body’s adjustments to ever changing environment.

Prolonged exposure to stress affect one’s career, love, and relationship. This exposure makes oneself angry, frustrated, and depressed, resulting in various health ailments including headaches, stomach problems, insomnia, mouth ulcers and heart diseases.

Stress and Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, one’s healthy is directly related to his or her mind condition (mana). All doshas: Kapha, Pitta, and Vata are affected by mana. Any misbalance in any of the dohas has direct effect on one’s body, mind and soul, as per Ayurveda.

Ayurveda with practices like Yoga, Pranayama and meditation is well adopted in India as well as west to fight stress and anxiety in today’s lifestyle. History is evident, Ayurveda to its practitioners an ability to control of their mind. An individual in control of his mind automatically controls his body and soul. In Ayurveda considers depression or stress is connected “Ojas” , a rudimentary constituent of the body tissues. Any fluctuation in this element give rise to stress and anxiety. To even “Ojas” fluctuations as way of combating stress, Ayurveda recommends Panchkarma therapies & Rasayana Therapies

Panchkarma therapy

Panchkarma therapy is consist of three procedures: Sirodhara, Thailadahara, and Snehapanam. The therapy essentially consist of removing toxins from one’s body and improving blood circulation.

  • Sirodhara
    This procedure is executed using warm herbal medicinal oil. Kept in a container suspended right above the head, the oil through an opening makes way to the individual’s forehead. The whole procedure is highly relaxing and soother the individual’s mind.
  • Thailadahara
    This procedure help the individual to strengthen the control of his mind, in addition to subsiding stress. The whole body is massages using the essential oil in Ayurveda: sesame oil, essential herbs and cow’s milk. This massage helps the body to get rid of toxins.
  • Snehapanam
    In this procedure, the individual has to conduct the intake of ghee or butter along with a mixture of basic Ayurveda herbs: asparagus, gooseberry, sandalwood, and amla.
  • Rasayana Therapies
    Once the body is using cleansed using Panchkarma therapy, Rasayana Therapy is performed to nourish it. This therapy is mainly about dietary practices.
  • Oral Procedure
    A course of stress and mind management herbs are prescribed to the individual.
  • Dietary Procedure
    A strict diet based on the principles of Ayurveda is followed. This diet is generally consist of rich carbs and protein diet. The intake of fat and oils are reduced. Intake of tobacco, sweets, salt and alcohol is restricted.
